At the market, Shanghai

There’s a market for everything in Shanghai, even marriage. The food market is the most popular. It’s surprisingly unusual to shop in supermarkets in Shanghai; everything is available from street sellers or market traders. The displays of fruit, vegetables, eggs, fish and meat were unlike anything I’d seen before I arrived in China. Every market stall’s stock is vibrant and brings together the huge array of produce grown in rural China and imported to the megacities. In this collection I tried to capture the beautiful colours of the Shanghai market.
