Chinese Laundry

On a sunny day, almost every street in Shanghai is decorated with laundry. Warm and densely populated, the city is perfect for drying clothes with racks on every available surface. Habits don’t differ when you travel from urban to rural, or from the colder north to tropical south of China. Laundry provides an ebb and flow of colours and textures as you wander around the busiest cities and the most remote villages. People aren’t bashful either; all items of clothing are hung out to dry in public, from knickers and bras to underpants and socks. ‘Laundry’ is my favourite collection from my time living and traveling across the country.
